Solomon vs Lord

Solomon vs Lord

Book

Solomon vs Lord by Paul Levine  ☻☻☻☻☺

Review by Don Miller

Setting:

Contemporary South Florida

Steve Solomon, one of two main characters, is a graduate of the Key West School of Law.  If the law does not work, he adroitly makes the law work for him and his client.  Victoria Lord, fresh from Yale Law School, works for the District Attorney.  Her first case which should be difficult to lose has Steve Solomon as the defense attorney.  He wins, she gets fired and by a strange set of circumstances, they become partners in a sordid high society murder.

Sub-plots include Solomon's autistic savant nephew whom he raises and loves.  The state, however, has determined his unorthodox child raising techniques make him a poor parent and they want the nephew to become a ward of the state.  He also has an obvious attraction to Ms. Lord which she has for him (although she will not admit it).  The problem arises because she is engaged to a local real estate developer and produce grower.

The real appeal of this book is the dialogue.  Page after page his conversation (arguing) with Victoria, the judges and the other cast of characters make this a humorous, fast paced work I would highly recommend.  There is some colorful language so parental discretion is advised.
